Take Charge of your Health
Let’s be honest. The
best selling drugs like statins, arthritis pills and heart medications are
given for lifestyle diseases attributed to poor nutrition, lack of exercise
poor lifestyle choices. Good nutrition
and natural supplements can remedy most of these ills, but it is a process. You didn’t fall into bad health overnight and
it will take dedication to regain your health one step at a time.
We give up responsibility for our health when we become dependent
on these temporary, quick fixes, i.e. pharmaceuticals – and those include both
prescription drugs and OTCs. The best
selling drugs are band aids that come with their own price to our health. Band aids are temporary and they are eventually removed. The same principle holds
true regarding Rx meds. Use them until
you get your health back on track and then stop taking them. Isn't it sad that the mega billion dollar health care industry is threatened by those who advocate proper diet, fresh
air, sunshine, rest, exercise and natural remedies to maintain good health?
Foundations for
Good Health
Traditional medicine has maintained for centuries that good
health begins in the digestive tract.
This holistic approach makes common sense. We are what we eat. Good nutrition will provide our body with
everything it needs to stay healthy and nutrients are processed and sent
throughout the body via the intestines. Healthy
bowel flora is the key and will open the door to your good health.
Yeast overgrowth = Inflammation = Disease
The First Step
Yeast overgrowth in the bowel is common.
Yeast produces 178 known toxins
that effect our health. A yeast-free diet, healthy foods, a good
probiotic and natural antifungals that will rebalance our intestinal flora.
Candida albicans
is a yeast organism that normally makes its home in our intestines. Candida
overgrowth can be caused by taking
antibiotics – whether by prescription drugs or eating the meat of animals that have
been heavily treated with them.
Antibiotics kill off good bacteria while yeast will fill the void they left behind.
Sugar stimulates yeast growth and is found in all kinds of processed
foods, fruit juices, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, breads and pastas. Sugar alone affects our health in numerous
ways. Go to the 76 Dangers of Sugar to learn more.
Acetaldehyde is a toxic byproduct of yeast and alcohol that damages the liver. Zymosan,
another toxin from yeast, causes widespread inflammation and psoriasis. Yeast also
creates arabinitol which produces toxic effects on the brain, nervous
system, and immune system. Yeast
manufactures hormone-mimicking chemicals that wreck a woman’s hormonal balance
creating PMS, perimenopause and menopausal symptoms.
Good natural antifungals include, but are not limited to, oregano oil,
olive leaf, garlic and coconut oil.
Stay away from “sticky foods” –
they will gum up your body’s natural pharmacy which is found in, and carried by
blood vessels, veins and capillaries.
Be
aware that the “sugar lobby” is very powerful and that Big Pharma works
hand-in-hand with Big Farma. If you run
across information that tells you not to worry about sugar and yeast – be
suspicious.
There are many resources where you can learn more about the impacts that yeast and sugar can have on your health. Knowledge will give you the power to take control of your health.
Learn all you can about this important mineral. Most people
are magnesium deficient. Magnesium is found in over 300 enzymes in the body and
is responsible for overall healthy metabolism.
Magnesium is crucial for generating energy called ATP
in our mitochondria. ATP is the energy
that drives our cells and our bodies. Magnesium
is required for the production of glutathione, a very important antioxidant
produced by the body.
For years women have been advised to take calcium and take
calcium more calcium to prevent osteoporosis.
A poor quality of calcium, known as “dirt” calcium was added to all
kinds of products. Without magnesium and
vitamin D to balance the calcium, people have become “calcified.” Calcium deposits show up throughout the body
in organs and soft tissues. An imbalance of D, Calcium and magnesium coupled with extreme inflammation and clogged up arteries clearly describes what is often labeled as sarcoidosis.
Many drugs cause magnesium depletion. Cipro is one of the
worst offenders because it also contains fluoride molecules which bind magnesium making it unavailable in the
body while it also kills off good microbes in the intestines. Stressful surgery can tax the
body’s magnesium reserves and drugs that are given after surgery can cause more
mag deficiency. This is especially true
for heart patients.
Doctors are not likely to tell you that blocked coronary
arteries are due to calcification caused by magnesium deficiency. Heart tissue
scarring can be prevented by daily intake of oral magnesium and also giving IV
magnesium at the first signs of a heart attack. High blood pressure is a sign
of magnesium deficiency. Diabetes can be caused by magnesium deficiency.
Excessive intake of alcohol or caffeine can drain magnesium. Stress burns off
magnesium like nothing else can and certain medications block magnesium from
working.
If you must take pharmaceutical drugs, become educated about
how they affect your body and what supplements you may need to take. Take those side effect inserts seriously.
Statin Drugs. Some
statins contain fluoride molecules that bind magnesium into a brittle compound
called sellaite, MgF2, which deposits in bones and cartilage, making them both
brittle. Magnesium is
helpful in treating heart and blood vessel conditions such as heart failure,
angina, and high blood pressure. Statins will also deplete CoQ10
which is a vitamin-like substance found in the body – especially in the heart,
liver, kidney and pancreas. Q-10
also has a role in producing ATP. Statins
deplete Vitamin D.
If you are trying to
lower your LDL and triglycerides, take fish oil (the Omegas), vitamins E and C
and alpha lipolic acid (ALA) – an antioxidant vital to cellular energy
production.
The latest findings show that triglycerides are the main culprit
in heart disease. Statins will not
affect high levels of triglycerides. However, as the triglycerides
decrease, the LDL number will often rise as the lipids are being broken down
and removed from the body. Statins may
be helpful, short term until the LDL is lowered.
Nexium is a
proton pump inhibitor that kills your stomach acid making it impossible to
digest food or break down dietary minerals properly before absorption.
Heartburn is a product of gastric acid deficiency as well as yeast overgrowth
and magnesium deficiency. How many people depend on nexium and other acid reducers while they continue to drink pop and eat processed foods, too many carbs and sugars?
Advair Diskus is
an asthma that 3 fluoride molecules.
Fluoride binds magnesium into sellaite which deposits in bones and cartilage.
Cymbalta is a
serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant. These drugs stop
the breakdown of serotonin and norepinephrine When these neurotransmitters build up in a
body, they will cause side effects.
Diovan can cause
a rapid heart rate and seizures, a sure sign that it is draining magnesium from
the body.
Lantus Solostar
is long-acting insulin prescribed for the treatment of diabetes. Few people
know that one of the signs of diabetes is low magnesium levels.
Lyrica is an
anticonvulsant drug used for neuropathic pain. It is used to treat epilepsy,
post-herpetic neuralgia, diabetic peripheral neuropathy and fibromyalgia. The
most serious side effects of Lyrica are muscle pain, weakness, or tenderness,
which are magnesium deficiency symptoms.
These are but a few drugs that affect magnesium – a mineral
that 80% of the population is deficient in.
