Where to begin....

I began my learning experiences by “accidentally” finding a program on TV called Your Health* hosted by Dr. Richard Becker and his wife, Cindy.  Since I believe there are no accidents, I know that finding this program was, in reality, a divine blessing.  Dr. Becker is also knowledgeable in the field of molecular biology and this man really does his research.  He often references the National Institutes of Health reference databases.  Here we can find research to back up the healing powers of plants and supplements!

Often, Your Health features guest physicians that are active in reforming outdated ideas in the mainstream medical community.  They also acknowledge the power of traditional medicine and believe in the holistic approach to health.  Below are just a few of the doctors I have seen on this program:

Dr. Russell L. Blaylock is a respected medical doctor who is unafraid to challenge establishment thinking. He doesn't parrot what the New England Journal of Medicine — which receives heavy subsidies in advertisements — claims.
Dr. Blaylock is a nationally recognized, board-certified neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author and lecturer. He has more than a quarter-century of medical experience. His credentials include 26 years of experience in neurosurgery, editorship of the respected Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons and Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association.
Dr. Blaylock edits The Blaylock Wellness Report because he believes that too many Americans are not getting the best advice for preventing and dealing with cancer, heart disease, diabetes, brain diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, and dozens of health problems now plaguing the American people.
Dr. Blaylock receives no funding from the pharmaceutical industry. He has no deals to sell you the health products he may recommend. He just gives you the best cutting-edge science that shows how you can improve your health — and possibly live longer.

A physician, researcher, author, and the medical director of PATH (Place for Achieving Total Health) Medical as well as coordinator of clinical research for PATH Foundation NY, both in New York City. Braverman has published journal articles and popular books on the topics of neurology, psychiatry, internal medicine, bariatrics, and preventative medicine.
Braverman specializes in anti-aging and considers a person to be as "young as his or her oldest body part." He has created a brain health checkup, which aims to identify early cognitive decline, mild cognitive impairment, and age-related learning differences.  He describes the "Edge Effect," as the combined effect of optimizing the neurotransmitters of dopamine, acetylcholine, GABA and serotonin to produce a cascade of wellness.  Braverman's work primarily focuses on brain health, promoting the use of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, creative implementation of conventional medicine, and personal responsibility.

Dr. Dean's not only a medical doctor, but also a naturopath, herbalist, acupuncturist, nutritionist, lecturer, consultant, author. Dr. Dean has been in the forefront of health issues for over 30 years.
She graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1978, holds a medical license in California and is a graduate of  The Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine – now the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto. She served on the board of Governors of the CCNM for six years.

Dr. Dean has authored or coauthored over thirty books, including How To Change Your Life With Magnesium, Future Health Now! Encyclopaedia, Death by Modern Medicine: Seeking Safe Solutions, The Magnesium Miracle, The Yeast Connection and Women’s Health, IBS for DUMMIES, IBS Cookbook for DUMMIES and Hormone Balance.

A cardiologist whose integrative approach to treating cardiovascular disease has revitalized patients with even the most advanced forms of illness.  His expertise is grounded in more than 30 years of clinical practice, research, and study beginning as an attending physician at Manchester Memorial Hospital (Eastern Connecticut Health Network). His career there included nine years as chief of cardiology, 18 years as director of medical education, seven years as director of echocardiography, three years as director of cardiac rehabilitation, and one year as director of the weight reducing program. In 1987, Dr. Sinatra founded the New England Heart Center. Through it, he became a well-known advocate of combining conventional medical treatments for heart disease with complementary nutritional, anti-aging, and psychological therapies.
Dr. Sinatra’s written works include more than a dozen books, including The Great Cholesterol Myth, Reverse Heart Disease Now, and Heartbreak & Heart Disease, as well as dozens of contributions to peer-reviewed medical journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Heart Disease, CT Medicine, and the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. He also wrote the monthly newsletter Heart, Health & Nutrition for more than 15 years.
Dr. Sinatra’s holistic treatment methods focus on reducing inflammation and maximizing the heart’s ability to produce and use energy. This best-of-both-worlds approach consistently results in the best possible patient outcomes—no matter whether a patient has advanced congestive heart failure or a comparatively simple problem like high blood pressure.
